What does it mean to negotiate well? On negotiation performance, competitions, and the panda bear effect
We all get involved in various kinds of negotiations every day. We negotiate with our partners, our kids, our bosses, current and prospective clients and supplies, but when we think about the frequency of our negotiations and how important some of their results are, we might find it scary how little we know about what it means to negotiate well. Yet, over the last four decades of negotiation research, science has found many answers concerning negotiation performance and derived tools and methods that allow us to optimize our negotiated results. These findings are teachable and learnable and there are lots of good negotiation trainings available in the market! However, all of us, who practice sports and/or play music know that the effects of even the best training can be improved, when followed by an active participation in a competition.

Who is this webinar led by?
Prof. Dr Remigiusz Smolinski graduated with a PhD from HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. In his research, he has focused on the theory and practice of negotiation particularly in international settings and on negotiation pedagogy. He was a visiting scholar at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Harvard’s Program on Negotiation. He holds an Honorary Professorship at HHL and actively advises his clients on innovation and sustainable growth strategies and trains in negotiations. Prof. Smolinski is the founder of The Negotiation Challenge, a major international negotiation competition for students and professionals and the International Negotiation Research and Teaching Association for negotiation scholars.
